How to build a swimming pool quickly!

Traditionally swimming pool construction is a process requiring finesse and attention to detail to ensure a quality finished product! In the construciton capital of the world in Dubai they've decided to do things another way!

Step 1 - dig a great big hole!

Step 2 - Fill it with some water!

Step 3 - An enticing looking pool is born!

However we would always advocate removing the digger before filling!
For more information or just an informal chat about your new indoor or outdoor inground swimming pool please get in touch with the team at IWSPOOLSERVICES for free, impartial advice.
Until next time, happy paddling from the team at IWS.

Electric grills and pools don't mix!

We recently received this picture of a group of people who are obviously trying their hardest to win a Darwin Award (http://www.darwinawards.com/ - A Chronicle of Enterprising DemisesHonoring those who improve the species...by accidentally removing themselves from it!). The identity of the enterprising men involved have been hidden to prevent ridicule.

Obviously we understand the desire to enjoy a cold beer and a burger while cooling off in a pool, spa or hot tub. However we strongly recommend that you speak to the guys at iwspoolservices about our range of pool and spa friendly (and safe!) accessories!
Happy paddling from all of us at IWS

Glass is Always Greener

Recently recycled glass filter media has become readily available to the domestic pool market. With this more and more evidence is being produced to prove its many benefits over sand
Here is an excert from a recently published article by Certikin:
"The Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) has conducted a number of commercial water treatment trials using recycled glass as a media and the results were highly favourable when compared to traditional sand. Glass outperformed sand, both for the amount of suspended solids removed and for the amount of influent treated, before a backwash cycle was required. In fact, it beats sand hands down! It removes up to 30 per cent more material and pollutants than sand. It’s also less susceptible to bio-fouling as the product’s heat treated surfaces are smooth, so requiring less remedial action and less chemical treatment to kill pollutants."

IWS Pool Services are pleased to offer a filter recharge service with glass filter media - the basic price for this service starts at £150 and you should recoup that cost in water, heat and chemical savings within 2 years.

World Record Pool

Here's a picture from space of officially the biggest swimming pool in the world in Chile

It's a 1013 metre long, 19.77 acre pool. Although the nearby sea look inviting it's apparently quite cold and not normally swum in.
Holding 2.5 million litres of water probably makes water balance quite a headache!!
We hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all the guys here at IWS

Try to avoid this situation

Just a little something that we dug up from our files. With some of the horror stories we've heard and read about regarding spas specifically and their water quality! Is this the best way to enjoy them safely?

Remember - the solution to pollution is dilution!! If your pool or spa water is becoming difficult to control, is foaming consistently or is leaving deposits on the scum line, it's time to drain down and refil or top up!

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME
Just a little something we came across from the US. Not recommended, however in the unlikely event that this does happen to you, give us a call and we'll sort it out - actually any pool or spa problems give us a call - 01639 894569.
